Surprise honey, I got you a pig

As you may know, my due date of April 27 is also Brett's birthday. Since this means I'll totally ignore this year's birthday and he'll be overshadowed by a cuter person's birthday for the next 10 years (which is about how long kids are cute), I decided to be a thoughtful mate and throw him a surprise early birthday party. He deserves it; putting up with me pregnant isn't as delightful as it may seem.

When you aim to make your man happy, you can't go wrong with meat and donuts.

I surprised him with the Big Pig Gig at Daisy May's BBQ -- a whole pig served up for 12 people. The pig in its entirety grossed some of us out, but all the boys were quite impressed.

I followed with a donut cake made from Krispy Kremes (really a pile of donuts with some toothpicks and candles). There were many curious stares as I assembled the thing in Penn Station, home of the only Krispy Kreme in NYC. Some people approached thinking I worked at Krispy Kreme and was preparing to give away free donuts, and I had to shoo them away with "no, these are my donuts; I bought them."

At the end most of us felt like exploding. Everything at Daisy May's was either drenched in butter or full of sugar...which I appropriately topped off with Krispy Kremes.

For the first time in months, I can honestly say I don't want to think about food for a long time.

aw, Happy early bday, Brett! :) Is the KK on the UES closed now? Penn Station scares me.

It's probably just as well I couldn't make it- it sounds like my poor, deformed stomach would have exploded! I hope Brett had an awesome early surprise birthday- we missed you! Sounds like it was an awesome time!
